Eyewitness Auschwitz: Three Years in the Gas Chambers
One of the most horrific yet thought provoking narratives I have ever come across. A book you recommend with spine-wracked reservation, but secretly hope others will pick up.
Filip Muller survived Auschwitz as part of a Jewish work crew in charge of cleaning the gas chambers. His story examines the internal turmoil that comes from realizing that in order to survive, you must witness the extermination of your people. Graphic and disturbing, Muller does his best to live with the duality of self-preservation versus overwhelming guilt.
